The Chocolate Shop is a perfect magpie’s nest of the bright, twinkly and downright delicious. Bespoke jewellery from mum and daughter design combo Kathie and Hattie Grimes is best browsed fortified with a little handmade Belgian chocolate within reach, so it’s lucky they sell both.

 

 

Jewellery is largely inspired by the natural world and organic form. It’s a favourite with brides and has found a real following with those who appreciate original beauty. The dinky little uber-modern showroom cum workshop nestles under the eaves of the Grade 11 listed shop which itself would look at home gracing the lid of a chocolate box. Downstairs the best that the craftsman chocolatier can offer joins a range of traditional sweets that evoke memories of hand knitted jumpers, comics on a Saturday and a world without internet and X boxes.

 

 

Kathie, a designer florist who retrained in jewellery design before opening the shop in the tiny conservation village of Churchtown, has worked with daughter Hattie for 4 years hand making jewellery which is also in galleries and shops around the UK.
